This is what happens when you put my fave toy house- 3AToys and legendary toy brand- Maschinen Krieger together.... Kröte isn’t massive in size (approximately 11.8 inches tall), but it’s very detailed and it has real working lights and rotating machine gun feature. WANT!!!

Antique Prosthetic Arm

This unusual -steel and brass- prosthetic arm made in Europe, articulates in a number of ways:

The elbow joint can be moved by releasing a spring, whereas the top joint of the wrist allows a degree of rotation and an up-and-down motion.

The fingers can also curl up and straighten out. The leather upper arm piece is used to fix the prosthesis to the remaining upper arm. The rather sinister appearance of the hand suggests the wearer may have disguised it with a glove.

National Geographic Robot Photography

National Geographic have just put up a nice photo gallery of robotic-themed pictures....

Roboticist Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University built his own mechanical twin to see how humans react to extraordinarily lifelike machines.

Nick Mayer, of the LifeNaut project in Vermont, sits down for a chat with the robotic head Bina48. Hanson Robotics created the talkative humanoid in the image of Bina Rothblatt, the co-founder of LifeNaut, which is exploring robot-human fusion as a technological path to immortality.

At Carnegie Mellon University the robot Actroid-DER took a crash course in becoming more human.

Linked through a computer, the humanoid BARTHOC and a pair of robotic hands team up to learn from humans at Germany's Bielefeld University. The hands are being trained how to grasp different fruits, while BARTHOC provides a face for the researcher to address—a key part of human communication.
