Have Your Say: Michael Jackson R.I.P.

ESPV pays our respects to all-time pop legend Michael Jackson, who has reportedly died in L.A. today from cardiac arrest, aged 50. US media reports someone at the singer’s household called 911 around 12pm and when paramedics arrived shortly after he was not breathing. Whilst some local media is claiming that he is in a coma in a Los Angeles hospital, the L.A. Times and several other reports are confirming he has died. Fans await a statement from his family.

Were you a fan?
Loved by millions since his early years in the Jackson Five, Michael Jackson’s fame and fortune was not without controversy. Charged a number of times for child molestation, the singer had two infamous court cases; one settled in court, one settled out of court (November 2003, USD 20million).
In recent years Jackson’s strange behavior and changing physical looks seemed to fill the headlines along with the artist’s children which, have been shrouded in secrecy by Jackson to protect them from the media.
Many fans claim that the molestation charges were fabricated and that the pop legend deserves our respect. Others however, believe the singer got-off jail time by using his wealth to buy himself out of trouble. Some simply feel that we will never know the truth but we can at lest respect him for his amazing talents and performances.

What do you think?
Are you a fan?
Do you believe Jackson should be remembered as the king of pop for all time?
Leave us your comments……..

I think its unfortunate this talented artist has passed away..
I was a fan in his early days but not recently.

Personally I am not convinced that Jackson was 100% innocent of the charges brought against him, regardless of what the end result was or what his diehard fans say. I think Jackson's upbringing and unrealistic later life showed that he indeed had many personal problems and I feel sorry for his family and kids..
Honestly, I am not so sure that a possible (we will never know the truth) child molester should be idolized as a music-god simply because people love his work. Just because an individual is amazingly talented, dose not mean they shouldnt be accountable for touching little kids. But again, we will never know the truth. For now at least, hopefully he can finally live in peace.

Any kid who is in show business from such an early age is bound to be screwed up particularly reaching the heights of adulation Michael did. Elvis was screwed up and lived an alternate reality. But Michael bizarre and socially unacceptable behaviors involved children and for that he cannot be forgiven. May he and the unrepentant priest child molesters meet in the next life. When I heard the news I felt nothing. Too bad. He was a brilliant artist.

I say no one could ever touch the amazing king of pop status. No matter what he may or may not have done in his personal life... I can guarantee no one will ever come close. His music will still be here long after we are gone.

He should be remembered, and much more, respected, as the King of Pop for all time. He is truly a legend. The controversies he has been involved can never outshine his talents as a singer, songwriter, dancer, the list goes on. Music industry will never be the same again without him. And just because he made some mistakes, it doesn't mean that he is a bad person.

In regards to the documentary screened on Channel 9 last night. Congratulations! you lost the respect of thousands of Australians (myself included) and you have shown your lack of respect for a man who changed music & the world for the better. What was the thinking behind showing that documentary? to televise something which contained a subjective, one sided story full of individuals who aimed to bring Michael Jackson down all through his career & now when he has passed. You should be ashamed of yourself, this was a disgusting thing to do to someone who should be left alone to rest in peace. It's the lowest level of human decency & clearly you are incapable of doing so.
He was an amazing man and last nights documentary aimed to steal that away from him. It's amazing how fast you can point out the ALLEGED 'bad' he has done & yet there was no acknowledgement of the good he did. Like many others, I definately will not be watching Channel 9 until a sincere apology is made.
