"Pingtime is a table tennis concept that captivates the players in an augmented reality world, where surfaces bend and fluorescent balls send ripples of electricity.
Developed by Sergiu Doroftei, Bogdan Susma, Ion Cotenescu, and Silviu Badea for Rokolectiv, an arts and electronic music festival that takes place every spring in Bucharest, Romania, the table features a surface that visually reacts to the match in real-time. As the players become more immersed in the game, Pingtime examines whether computer animations are challenging their reaction speed."

Skydive From Space Update 5
It's definitely on this year!! YES!
From the Red Bull Stratos website yesterday:
"The jump will happen sometime this year. I know you’re thinking, “how am I going to mark it on my calendar with a vague answer like that?” I can tell you the team has made really good progress in a matter of months, but they need to run more tests. We’re launching out of Roswell, NM so the weather will be another determining factor. Believe me, when it’s time to launch we’ll give a big shout out."

Ultimate Tazer Ball - The Future of Sport?
Part lacrosse, part rugby and part The Running Man – the Ultimate Tazer Ball League may be stunning audiences near you, if league organizers have their way. The world's newest sports league has four teams, two in California, one in Philadelphia and another based out of Toronto.
However, the Toronto Terrors might be at a distinct disadvantage because they can't actually practice the game because stun guns are illegal in Canada. Yes, stun guns are as important to the game as a stick is to hockey.
The game's rules are fairly simple. It pits four players a side in an arena roughly the size of a hockey rink. There are nets at both ends and the players score by putting a large soccer ball (it's a bit heavier than a basketball) into the goal. Of course to score, the team must make its way down the field dodging tackles and players armed with hand-held stun guns -- who are allowed to zap the ball carrier. First team to score five points, wins. A demonstration video on the league's website http://utblive.com/ shows players collapsing to the pitch, writhing in pain, after being stunned. There are also goals and bodychecks.
All I can say is....WTF?!

Skydive From Space Update 4
YES!!! It's back on!!!
If you remember from our post back in October 2010 'Skydive From Space Update 3', the Red Bull Stratos project was halted due to a petty lawsuit.
Just today, I was checking to see if there had been any changes and I read this on the Red Bull Stratos website:
OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON CLOSING OF LEGAL CASE
June 30, 2011
The legal action filed by Daniel Hogan and PerDan, LLC in the Superior Court for the State of California for the Country of Los Angeles entitled Per Dan, LLC, et al. v. Red Bull GmbH, et al., Case No. BC 436456 has been mutually resolved by the parties out of court and the lawsuit has been dismissed.
Now get on and make history.....

Hockern A New Extreme Sport
Hockern is essentially extreme sitting, where athletes perform a series of tricks and stunts with a special stool called a Sporthocker. At the end of a set of tricks, the athlete comes to a stop in a sitting position on the stool. it's about being creative with this weirdly shaped tool..."It is a movement, a trend, a new sport. "Hockern" describes a new way to perform acrobatic tricks with a specially designed stool using natural obstacles like chairs, rails or walls."- Inventor of Sporthocker..I say- Get a skateboard or BMX mate and stop trying to cut corners.

The Perpetually Sinking Boat
Love-Love is a perpetually sinking boat created by French artist Julien Berthier. The boat appears to be sinking but never actually does, thanks to its clever design.
For this piece he adapted an abandoned 6.5 meter yacht so that it appears to be perpetually sinking. To create this, the vessel was split and a new keel was constructed allowing it to be sailed by Berthier at a 45 degree angle off the coast of Normandy.

RIP Andy Irons
[VIA]We dont really cover much surfing on here, but 3 times World Champion Andy Irons was a surf legend.
He had contracted Dengue Fever and rumours are abound that this was a case of an accidental overdose on Methadone.
A very sad day in the surfing world.

Skydive From Space Update 3
It is a sad sad day.Red Bull GmbH and Red Bull North America Inc have decided to stop the Red Bull Stratos programme with immediate effect.
Felix Baumgartner had been scheduled to undertake a stratospheric balloon flight to 120,000ft (36.5km) and attempt a freefall jump that would, for the first time, reach supersonic speeds, as well as deliver valuable scientific data.
Despite the fact that many other people over the past 50 years have tried to break Colonel (Ret) Joe Kittinger's altitude record, and that other individuals have sought to work with Red Bull in an attempt to break his record, Daniel Hogan claims to own certain rights to the project and filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit earlier this year in a Californian court.
That "Mr. Hogan" is apparently one Daniel Hogan, who reportedly pitched Red Bull on a similar skydiving idea in 2004.
Due to the lawsuit, they have decided to stop the project until this case has been resolved.
For a project that has been 3 years in development, this petty claim really pisses me off.
I've been waiting and waiting for this event.
