Have Your Say: To game, or not to game?

Often those who don’t have access to or have properly experienced computer gaming will state that computer games rot the brain, whereas gamers will claim that gaming allows for true escapism. Similar to the age old argument of life with/without TV, is playing computer games overrated and a waste of time? Or can aspects of gaming complement one’s life in a positive manner? Some say kids that grow up playing computer games are better at problem solving, have less stress and are more tech savvy – so long as gaming is done in moderation. Is this true?
Do you game?
Is gaming a waste of time/life?
Do the benefits of gaming out weight the negatives?

I love gaming of all kinds and truley believe there is alot to gain from gaming in terms of broadening one's mind.. ofcourse, everything in moderation, including moderation.. but simular to watching TV over the years - i would much prefer to game then not to game. Yea, some people game too much and too much of anything is bad (apparently) but I thin people who have never truley experienced gaming and critisize it all are narrow minded fools.

I've noticed that as I get older, my capacity for remembering new game controls are getting worse....I still prefer easy games like Rockband/Loco Roco/Parappa etc cos i dont need realism or hyper technical 1st person shooters....just a quick laugh when I'm sitting on the toilet or chilling on a Sunday afternoon....

Gaming is only fun if you dont allow it to take over you or affect anyone in your relationship/family. My brother had the gaming bug real bad. Lost alot of friends and respect so like Philfy says, it's all about moderation kids!

I do not game but a lot of accomplished and intelligent people do. My only objection to gaming is doing it to the exclusion of all else. Kids should get outside. Play with others even in the streets. Negotiate the rules themselves. Learn and grow is an unprogrammed world.

Gamers love to use the excuse that it broadens their horizons or whatever. Frankly, I think you can broaden your horizons by doing practical things in the real world, instead of escaping from reality.

lol, spoken like a ture non-gamer Anonymous.. obviously there are millions of ways one can broaden their horizon, but to say that gaming is NOT one of them is pretty narrow minded.. personally, i think that kids that grow up with some gaming experience, be it just for fun or educational, will benift more then kids that dont.. using the computer or console contorllers allows them to expand their skills set and problem solve, etc..
