We Are Batman

Brazil-based graphic and web designer Billy Butcher took Batman’s final words in The Dark Knight Rises quite seriously (or not so) and decided to imagine how artists and celebrities from past and present would look as if they were the caped crusader.

Color Kid

It seems I totally missed out on this loserhero from DC Comics and I was a pretty big fan of the DC world merchandise & comics. "Color Kid has the ability to change the color of an object at will. The exact limits of this ability are unknown as is the permanency of the effect. He has been shown to switch the colors of the sky and ground, temporarily confusing flying opponents".....

2 Million Dollar Comic

A copy of the first issue of Action Comics, in which Superman makes his debut, has sold for a record US$2.16m. The comic, graded a 9.0 for its condition, was auctioned online with a reserve price of US$900,000.
The name of the seller was not disclosed but there have been claims it was Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage.

'When we broke the record in 2010 by selling the Action Comics No 1, graded at 8.5, for US$1.5m, I truly believed that this was a record that would stand for many years to come,' said Stephen Fishler, CEO of ComicConnect.com, the site which hosted the auction, and Metropolis Collectibles.

See our post about the previous Action Comics #1 record breaker, and our post about Detective Comics #27 (Batman's debut) which broke that record a week later!!

Disney Digital Comic Book Tron Uses HTML5

Disney Digital Books has taken the next step in comic viewing with their latest incarnation of the Tron merchandise line. Using the power of HTML5, they have created a beautiful interactive comic strip that has background music, flashing lights as well as dynamic movement between each frame...I personally think that they are onto a winner here! I'm sure there will be more coming very soon....

“It’s truly an interactive environment people don’t expect to see on a website,” said Ken Disbennett, art director for Vectorform, who worked closely on the project. “When a character is smashing through a glass wall, you can see and experience the glass particles shattering. We couldn’t have achieved this the way we did without the hardware acceleration in Internet Explorer 9 or the use of a plug-in.”
